About Waldies
Waldies is one of the largest manufacturers of lead oxides in India, and a long-standing maker of PVC stabilizers and specialty chemicals for India's leading industries.
Our story
Waldies owes its name to Dr David Waldie, a chemist born in Linlithgow, Scotland, in 1813, who founded his own chemical works in Calcutta in 1858. More than a century and a half later, Waldies Compound Limited makes specialty chemicals for batteries, PVC, rubber, glass and ceramics, from works along the Hooghly in West Bengal and at Dausa in Rajasthan.
What we do
We make lead oxides, battery metals, PVC stabilizers and lubricants, and zinc oxide. Our brands include Griffin®, the heritage Waldies range; Ducatus®, for lead-based stabilizers; and Virichem®, our lead-free calcium-zinc line. See all products.
How we work
- Quality you can document. Every lot is tested and certified before it leaves the works.
- Technical partnership. Our team works with customers on formulation, trials and scale-up.
- Moving with the market. From lead-based to lead-free chemistry, we invest ahead of regulation and customer demand.
- Responsible growth. Six works across three states, built with safety, energy and the environment in mind.
