Epoxidized soybean oil Coming soon

ESBO

A bio-based secondary plasticizer and co-stabilizer for PVC, joining the Virichem® lead-free range.

Epoxidized soybean oil · triglyceride, schematic · live structure

Epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO) is made by epoxidising the double bonds in soybean oil. In PVC it works two ways: as a secondary plasticizer that adds flexibility, and as a co-stabilizer whose epoxy groups mop up hydrogen chloride and work in synergy with calcium-zinc stabilizers.

Virichem® ESBO was introduced at PlastIndia 2023 and will complete the Virichem lead-free system. Contact us to register interest and receive samples when supply opens.

Frequently asked questions

What does ESBO do in PVC?

ESBO acts as a secondary plasticizer and as a co-stabilizer. Its epoxy groups react with hydrogen chloride released during processing, improving heat and light stability, especially with calcium-zinc stabilizers.

When will Virichem ESBO be available?

Virichem® ESBO is coming soon. Register your interest through our contact page and we will share samples and data sheets when supply opens.
