Zinc oxide
Griffin® zinc oxide activates vulcanisation and improves the strength, abrasion resistance and heat dissipation of rubber and tyre compounds.
Zinc oxide is the standard activator for sulphur vulcanisation. Working with stearic acid and accelerators, it speeds up crosslinking and improves the final network, giving rubber its strength and resilience. In tyres it also helps carry heat away from the compound.
Griffin® zinc oxide is supplied in rubber and tyre grades, with technical support on dosage and dispersion.
The range
| Type | What it does |

Frequently asked questions
Why is zinc oxide used in rubber?
Zinc oxide activates sulphur vulcanisation. Together with stearic acid it forms zinc complexes that make accelerators work efficiently, raising crosslink density, strength and heat resistance.
Which brand is Waldies zinc oxide sold under?
Waldies zinc oxide is sold under the Griffin® brand.
