PVC lubricants
Lubricants that control how PVC flows, fuses and releases from hot metal, matched to our stabilizer systems.
Lubrication is the other half of a PVC formulation. Internal lubricants reduce friction between polymer chains and improve melt flow; external lubricants reduce sticking to barrels, screws and dies. The balance between the two decides fusion time, output and surface finish.
Waldies lubricants are designed to work with Ducatus® and Virichem® stabilizers, and our technical team helps balance the full system for your line.
The range
| Type | What it does |
|---|---|
| Internal lubricants | Reduce friction between PVC chains and improve melt flow and fusion. |
| External lubricants | Reduce sticking to hot metal surfaces and improve release and surface finish. |
| Combined lubricants | Balanced internal and external action in one product for extrusion, moulding and calendering. |
Applications
- Pipe and profile extrusion
- Injection moulding of fittings
- Calendered sheets and films
- Cable compounds

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between internal and external lubricants in PVC?
Internal lubricants act within the melt, lowering viscosity and helping fusion. External lubricants act at the interface between the melt and hot metal, preventing sticking and controlling fusion speed.
Do lubricants need to match the stabilizer?
Yes. Many stabilizers carry some lubricating effect of their own, so the lubricant package should be balanced with the stabilizer. We supply both and can recommend a matched system.
