Lead alloys
Lead–calcium and lead–antimony alloys to your composition. Battery grids need to be stronger than pure lead.
Battery grids need to be stronger than pure lead. Lead–calcium(–tin) alloys give low water loss for maintenance-free batteries. Lead–antimony alloys give hardness and good cycling for deep-cycle and traction batteries, and are used for straps and posts.
The structure on this page shows a lead lattice with antimony atoms (purple) sitting in place of some lead atoms, which is what hardens the alloy. Alloys are supplied to the customer's composition with analysis for each lot.
