Waldies plans an independent Virichem facility and new capacity
Wire & Cable India reports Waldies' plans for new capacity and an independent Virichem facility, focused on performance products for wires and cables.
Mr Pradip Saha played a gallant innings of nearly four decades with the company, which he joined on 1 May 1982 after several rounds of interviews.
He began his career as a Sales Representative on a stipend of Rs 600 a month. He completed a demanding 12-month probation with distinction and was absorbed into Gillanders Arbuthnot & Co Ltd.
On 18 August 1983 he was made Sales Representative for Pigments & Stabilizers of Waldies Ltd, covering West Bengal, Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Tripura and Odisha. In that role he came to know the manufacturers and sales teams across the industry and built a deep technical knowledge of Waldies products.
He was known in the industry for his gentle nature and his patience in listening to developments in competing products, which became valuable feedback for Waldies' research and development cell.
He was promoted to Senior Sales Representative in 1988, and in 1989 he moved to Waldies Limited, where he worked tirelessly to take Waldies products to new markets across the country.
In 2006, when Waldies Ltd became a division of Gillanders Arbuthnot & Co Ltd, he stayed with the division as an Executive Officer. When Waldies was later demerged as the standalone Waldies Compound Limited, he stood by the organisation as its Sales Manager, bringing his encyclopaedic knowledge of the lead industry and Waldies products.
Waldies Compound Limited recorded its highest-ever sales in FY 2017-18 with his support and contribution. He was equally respected by large customers and by small customers who rarely had the chance to visit a corporate office.
It is with great sadness that we share that Mr Pradip Saha passed away on the evening of 13 April 2018.
